Our Name - 'Aquila Helicopters'

Our company name ‘Aquila Helicopters' was inspired by our many sightings of eagles soaring near our base. These wedge tailed eagles, or ‘wedgies’, more correctly known as Aquila Audax (audacious eagle), spend much of their time flying at considerable heights where they have commanding views of the landscape. With an average wingspan of over 2 metres they also possess the ability to hover, like a number of other birds in the raptor family. We hope to give you an eagle's eye perspective of our beautiful landscape.

Footnote: Aquila Helicopters has voluntarily incorporated the Helicopter Association International's "Fly Neighbourly Program" into our flight operations. This "world best practice" initiative promotes the operation of helicopters in a way that minimise noise impact on the community and the environment.
